The 5 habits that changed my life

I am a happy and positive person, and I did many things to get here, but I will share with you the five things I did that helped me the most and really improved the quality of my life, my energy levels, my mood and my health in general.✨

1. Eating right

I can’t tell you how much this one has changed my life. After I moved away from home, and I got involved in many activities as a student, I completely neglected my food, as I did not have time to cook, so I just mostly ate fast-food and things that were easy to put together (not the healthiest). This really affected my energy levels, mood, sleep, health in general and pretty much everything else.

When our cells die, they are being replaced with nutrients from the food we eat, so we literally become what we eat. The food we eat is our fuel, so if you want your body to function properly, it needs the right fuel!

After I started to pay more attention to what I ate and tried to eat healthier, everything changed. I feel better, I sleep better, I have a loooot more energy, and I feel much more motivated to make other right choices for me, like working out or drinking more water.

2. Exercise

This one goes hand in hand with the first one, and they also kind of support each other. I want to take care of my body and keep it in the best shape it can be in, so I started working out more and it has so many more benefits than I expected! After you work out, your body produces serotonin so you are actually instantly happier after you finish a workout! Also, it helps you with your energy levels, sleeping better and you get to lose some weight and look better, if this is what you want!

You can introduce exercise into your life by finding a sport that you really love, so you ca be consistent with it. I started with yoga and I fell in love with it, but it could be anything from running, pilates, swimming, dancing, tennis, basketball and so on. Just try different things until you find something that you really love, and it will make you feel so much better!

3. Increasing my emotional intelligence

Prioritizing my mental health, working with myself and my feelings and learning more and more about emotional intelligence was one of the best decisions I ever made. Besides the fact that our generation is on fast-forward all the time and we are prone to stressful lives, we also live in a culture where we might feel a little too much pressure from society, religion, family and so on and we must learn how to handle and manage our emotions and feelings in order to be peaceful, happy and have a successful life.

The most important thing that helped me in this journey was doing the Essence courses, an experiential process that allows you to know yourself better, to discover your subconscious limiting beliefs and get rid of them, and heal your past traumas, through the interaction with Dr. Menis Yousry and the other people in a safe environment. If you want to learn more about it, watch the videos below!

Some other things that I did which helped me with this were paying attention to my reactions and seeing where they came from, meditation, spending time alone and getting to know myself better, positive thinking. 😄

4. Learning something new everyday

I have always been a curious person, so I love learning new things every day and finding new ways to improve my life and be a better person. I love finding people that inspire me and that are really good at what they do and I try to learn from their way of living and introduce some of that into my own life.

I do this by watching a TED Talk, reading a book, going to different courses, watching youtube videos, reading articles, going to public talks and so on. I love the variety of topics on TEDx and I love expanding my knowledge in many different fields.

5. Waking up earlier

This is something that I struggled with as a student, because there are always fun parties to go to or stressful nights before the exam, when you think you can just learn the whole semester in one night. But I absolutely loveee being an early bird and starting my mornings just right. I hate being rushed in the morning, I want to sit and enjoy my coffee and also get some things done in the morning.

Also, I absolutely love to watch the sunrise and listen to the birds in the morning, just waking up for this gives me such a good feeling in the morning and I am so much more happier during that day! And by waking up earlier, and starting my morning right, I am much more productive and full of energy for the rest of the day!

These are my top 5 habits to be happier, I hope you like it! 😊
